«FREEDOM
(1927-1934)»

Exhibition
of cartoons that came out on "Freedom", paper of the Anti-Fascists
escaped to Paris when in 1925 and 1926 special laws had
suppressed civil and political rights in Italy. The cartoonists who
collaborated to the newspaper were Pierre Dukercy, Marcolon and
Evariste, who demonstrated a thorough knowledge of political events and
Italian history.
The purpose of the exhibition is to show through a selection of
drawings the facts of a "critical period" in the history of Italy, when
fascism came into power, bent democratic institutions and began to
spread in Europe.

«AS I SEE MY
TOWN AND MY COUNTRY»

For
the second year the Museum of Satire and the 1st grade Secondary School
"U. Guidi" in Forte dei Marmi, have successfully collaborated to create
a satirical drawing competition among the students.
This year the subject was "How do I see my town and my country".
The aim of this satirical drawing competition is that of teaching the
use of irony and satire to the young ones and it must be admitted that
it has been fully achieved, given the excellent results that can be
admired in the exhibition.

«GARIBALDI IN
THE CLOUDS»

The
surreal comic drawings of the irreverent and entertaining biography
about the hero of Two Worlds drawn by Andrea Paggiaro, alias Tuono
Pettinato. (Garibaldi, Rizzoli Lizard, 2010)
In his strips Paggiaro tells us the story of Garibaldi while mocking
the emphasis of patriotic literature. The Hero is here seen as a simple
person, led to the heroic impulse but not much able in politics, in
love with libertarians ideals but destined to have a bitter and lonely
old age.
«WHEN ITALY FINALLY WORE A BOOT»

To
mark the 150th anniversary of the Unity of Italy the Museum presents
the cartoons on Mazzini, Cavour and Garibaldi published on the
satirical newspapers of the time, true masterpieces of biting humor.

The
great satirical artist Teja rereads the history of the Risorgimento in
this very long strip which illustrates the journey of the Italian
capital from Turin to Rome.

«SATIRE IN RUSSIA - CATИPA В РОССИИ»

On
show the drawings by some of the most famous authors of the
contemporary satirical Russian scene.
The habit of conveying messages to a large public through easy and
quick channels such as satirical posters was a well known prerogative
of Soviet propaganda. The art of satire, although forced to ridicule
the enemies of the State above all, has always been well cultivated in
this country. Today this art continues to produce works that are
masterpieces, supported by biting wit and inexhaustible originality.
We present a wide selection of these works for the celebration of 2011
as the Year of Russian language and culture in Italy.

CARICATURING WRITERS AND ARTISTS IN FLORENCE: THE ORIGINAL
DRAWINGS OF MIPPIA FUCINI (1907-1998)»

dalla "Donazione Anchise Tempestini" al
Museo della Satira.
Donation of drawings to the Museum by
Anchise Tempestini.
An exhibition of biting caricatures of the protagonists of the literary
and artistic Florence in 1900. There are some very famous caricatures,
such as those of Piero Bargellini and Manlio Cancogni, of Primo Conti
and Giovanni Spadolini, of Carlo Levi and Indro Montanelli. But there
are also some original cartoons created for the newspaper "Nazione
sera” in the early fifties. Mippia Fucini – granddaughter of the writer
Renato Fucini, from whom she inherited the caustic wit, and wife of the
sculptor Bruno Catarzi – also had an intense and extremely valuable
artistic production.
