CURRENT EXHIBITIONS AWARDS COMING SOON EXHIBITIONS Museum of Cartoons and Caricatures - Piazza Garibaldi‚ 1 Forte dei Marmi 29 October 2011 - 11 February 2012 «THE ART OF CARICATURING WRITERS AND ARTISTS IN FLORENCE: THE ORIGINAL DRAWINGS OF MIPPIA FUCINI (1907-1998)» dalla "Donazione Anchise Tempestini" al Museo della Satira. Donation of drawings to the Museum by Anchise Tempestini. An exhibition of biting caricatures of the protagonists of the literary and artistic Florence in 1900. There are some very famous caricatures, such as those of Piero Bargellini and Manlio Cancogni, of Primo Conti and Giovanni Spadolini, of Carlo Levi and Indro Montanelli. But there are also some original cartoons created for the newspaper "Nazione sera” in the early fifties. Mippia Fucini – granddaughter of the writer Renato Fucini, from whom she inherited the caustic wit, and wife of the sculptor Bruno Catarzi – also had an intense and extremely valuable artistic production. 11 February - 25 March 2012 «THE SPORTS WORLD IN CARTOONS» For the third year the Museum of Satire and the 1st grade Secondary School "Ugo Guidi" in Forte dei Marmi, have successfully collaborated to create a satirical drawing competition among the students. This year the subject was "The sports world in cartoons". 31 March - 24 June 2012 MAURO BIANI Satire, sculptures and colour stories in order to remain human beings. The exhibition of the works of an artist who defies any labels, and who is at the same time educator, sculptor, painter, illustrator, cartoonist, blogger. 9 June - 1st July NAPOLITANEIDE The President of the Italian Republic, Giorgio Napolitano, seen by the satirical Italian political cartoonists. 30 June - 7 October 2012 ALTAN A one-man show of Altan, whose 40 years of great satirical cartoons make us rewind 40 years of Italian history. 27 October - 6 January 2013 THIRTY YEARS OF "SATIRYKON" (1979-2010) On display a wide selection of cartoons from the "Satirykon" festival of Legnica, Poland. AWARDS DAY Capannina di Franceschi - Forte dei Marmi 15 September 2012 - 6pm 40th INTERNATIONAL POLITICAL SATIRE AWARDS CEREMONY Awards to the winners of the various sections of the Prize: literature, journalism, cartooning, Tv shows, theatre, websites. The Political Satire Awards were established in 1973 to celebrate the best of Italian contemporary satirical literature, journalism, cartooning, theatre and TV shows.
